In 1995  Prof. Upkar Singh Saggu met with an accident and had multiple fractures in his right leg. He did not show any sign of pain and agony on his face, because he thought if he did so he will be disappointing his relatives and friends. Although he remain bedridden for 13th month. He has very strong fortitude and will power. He is firm believer of God’s Wish.

    Prof. Upkar Singh Saggu is very active in social circle. He joined as member Ludhiana city junior chamber of Industries in 1978 and became president in 1989. He got the honour of HGF (Hennery Gissenvear Fellow) of the chamber. He has conducted so many personality development, Time management, effective public speaking courses in various Club  meetings and  public gatherings. He is a  active Lion, he joined lions club Ludhiana Royal in 1989 as a member. He was unanimously elected president in 1995. Under his presidentship the club  fetched Eight prizes in Distt. convention. He was also declared 2^nd Best Zone Chairman of the Distt 321-F in the subsequent year.

  He is a good writer. His writings have been publishing in “THE TRIBUNE”. He is a member of many sabha societies. He is member faculty of Guru Nanak Dev University of Amritsar. He is an active member of Ramgarhia Brotherhood. Best teacher award was conferred on him by Sheed Sewa Memorial Society Ludhiana

   He got married to Manmohan Kaur Daughter of  S. Sant Singh Sokhi on 29^th Sept. 1974. She did her matriculation from Ramgarhia senior secondary school for girls in 1965. She did he graduation from Govt. College of Women in 1969,then MA English from Govt.college for boys in 1971.She is helping the girls to be active in household works. She teaches them to make Rangoli, Flower arrangement, Embroidery and mehndi etc. She trains and motivate her  students to participate in inter college competitions. She is chief editor of college magazine (English section). The couple is blessed with two brilliant sons
