S. Gurdial Singh produced good quality cycle
parts and his son S. Davinder Singh Mankoo developed 1000 cc
motorcycle which was highly appreciated by automobile magazine. A 20
minutes documentary was also telecast by BBC on 31st December 2000.
S. Gurdial Singh Mankoo was born to Smt. Dhan Kaur Birdi on 15th
January, 1938 at Village Akbarpur Channa, Malerkotla, Sangrur. His
father S. Gian Singh was good artisan, in those days the kerosene
oil lamp made by mud was popular to light the house, and then S.
Gian Singh developed a kerosene oil lamp with metal which was very
much economical as well as fuel efficient.
S. Gurdial Singh Mankoo
did his matriculation in 1954. After completing his studies he
joined his father. Being an innovative bent of mind he started to
get training to manufacture cycle part from his maternal uncle. |

In 1959 he shifted to Ludhiana
with his brother and established a cycle part manufacturing unit by
the name of Gian Singh and Sons with trade Mark GEMCO. Now GEMCO
is one of the leading names in bicycle industry. It started catering
the needs of manufacturers of bicycle and bicycle Saddles throughout India,
developing various cycle components such as saddleback plate, saddle
clamp, B.B. Shell, Spokes and steel rolling mill. The company
started manufacturing cycle rims in the name and style of GEMCO
CYCLES under the flagship of S. Gurdial Singh assisted by his sons
S. Bhajan Singh and Davinder Singh Mankoo. |

Keeping in
view of Companys Motto of Gradual improvement Customer Satisfaction
and being quality conscious. The top management has provided the
latest technology and specification are controlled exactly as per
National/international standard or customer satisfaction.
Now the
company has setup all facilities within the plant and there is no
out source process. Regular training is provided to all the
employees for the up gradation. Periodical interaction is made
between the management and R&D staff to upgrade the quality and to
make GEMCO a Zero defect rim available in the market. To day the
company system is based on quality management system standard
presently the company is exporting its products indirectly to almost
all European. Latin America and south Asian countries.
In
future the company is planning to manufacture automobile rims for
two wheelers and cater to the needs of domestic as well as
international markets. With the hard work and sincerity the family
established the name in good quality cycle parts. When the work load
started S. Gurdial Singh expand the production area and established
new units. Mankoo Engineers, G.S. Mankoo and Co. Gemco steel rolling
mill
Gemco Cycle, under the family settlement now these firms are run by
his other brothers.
S.
Gurdial Singh got Married to Smt. Mohinder Kaur Panesar. The couple
is blessed with three daughters and two sons.

Elder son S. Bhajan Singh Mankoo was born on 19th February,
1961. He did his matriculation from Dashmesh Senior Secondary
School in 1976. Then he did Three years diploma in Mechanical
Engineer from Ramgarhia Polytechnic, Phagwara in 1980. Then he
joined his father, now he is looking after Gemco Cycle. He go
married to Jagwant Kaur Ubhi on 26th April 1983. The couple is
blessed with 3 sons. |

Younger S. Davinder Singh Mankoo was born on 4th, May 1967. He did his
matriculation from Dashmesh Senior Secondary School in 1983. Then he
did his graduation from Arya College
in 1988. Then he joined his father, as we now that ramgarhias are
born engineers he had developed 1000 cc motor cycle using gypsy
engine in 1999. This invention is appreciated by auto magazine and
half hour coverage was done by BBC. His interviews and news were
appear on other popular channels also. Now he is looking after Gemco
Cycle. He got married to Smt. Swaranjit Kaur Kalsi on 8th December,
1999. The couple is blessed with 3 sons. |
