S. Harchand
Singh kalsi was born at village Kishan Garh , Distt ferozpur in 1923
to Smt Permeshwari devi Bhamra.
His father S. Sajjan Singh was doing the Seppoy work in his
hometown. S. Harchand Singh got his primary education from village
dera. But he did master in music in the later stage. He was
fond of music. After seeing his interest in music,his
father send him to learn music under the guidance of Bhai Megah
Singh at Moga. Then S. Harchand Singh showed his interest in
recommended Classical Singing in gurbani, he worked hard with full
determination to learn it . After seeing his interest his father
send him to learn music from renowned musician of Gwalior Pandit
Krishan Rao ji .

Then he got the
opportunity to work as Hazuri ragi of Shri Harimandir
Sahib, Amritsar. After serving at Golden Temple he shifted to Moga
and established “ Gurmit Sangeet Vidyala”, and started to provide
teaching in music to the youngster. |

In 1948
Maharaja faridkot started radio station . He was
appointed music director at radio station. After some time the
radio station was close down and S.Harchand Singh shifted to
Delhi.
He served the Gurudwara sees Gunj as Hazoori Raagi.
Once the management of Gurudwara Raqab Gunj organize a Kiratn
Darbar. Kitrtani Jatha from various part of the country took
part in the competition. Jatha of Bhai Harchand singh got first prize.
After some
time he came back to
Ludhiana
and complete his MA Music. Then he started to perform at
Jalandhar Radio station. S. Harchand singh ji was expert in
playing various musical instrument like violin, Dilruba,
Sitar, Benzo, Jal Trang etc.
He is
honoured by many sabha society for is contribution to Sikhisim
in India and Abroad.
Till date most of his Shabad are popular among Sikhs and
others. Sarab Sanjhi Gurbani and Texla had recoded his
Cassettes. He had judged many music competitions. |

S. Harchand Singh was a good writer also. He had given poetry books to the punjabi
culture. “Agami Krishmey”, "Agami Tranee”, ”Sharda de Phool” and
“kalsi Nagme” are few popular poetry books from his pen. He
had mesmerized the audiences in
England and Canada also. He got married to Smt Gurmeet Kaur
Reehal in 1967 The couple
is blessed with two sons and two daughters. S. Harchand Singh had
breathed his last on 18th October 2003 in Ludhiana, Punjab India. |
